Puerto Rico Has Its First Green Globe
Participant!
A round of applause must be sounded for
Copamarina Beach Resort in Guanica,
Puerto Rico for being the first property
in the country to strive towards Green
Globe certification. Copamarina has won
the Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism
Association’s Green Hotel of the Year
Award twice in the past four years and
they are competing again this year with
high hopes. Aside from its many
environmental programs, the hotel and
its staff are actively involved in the
community and preserving their natural
flora and fauna for future generations.
Two Green Globe Certified Properties Nab
The 2005 CHA/AMEX Green Hotel of the
Year Awards – Presented At The Caribbean
Hotel Industry Conference (CHIC) held at
the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Miami on June
28, 2005!
Both the winners in the large and small
categories obtained the highest combined
scores, based on their performance in
the following five criteria:
Environmental Management & Stewardship,
Infrastructure, Awareness, Conservation,
and Health & Safety. And the winners
are:
In The Small Hotel Category –
3 Rivers Eco Lodge, Dominica
In the Large Hotel Category -
Sunscape Casa del Mar, Dominican
